MEET CLAIRE - FOUNDER OF CLAIRE SEAGER PILATES

Hi, I'm Claire!

I love being a Pilates teacher because I love  to teach people how to move better and feel better, I enjoy the  interaction with my clients in a group or 1-1 setting, and I love the  flexibility (excuse the pun!) of my job.   You can read what my clients  say about me on my Facebook page and Google reviews.

As an ex-professional ballet dancer, I have felt the benefits of Pilates most of my life, helping to complement the rigorous demands of years of ballet training. Following a career ending injury in 2014, I qualified as a Pilates teacher with Brigid McCarthy as part of the Independent Pilates Teachers Association .  I have since gained my Reformer, Springboard, HIP Pilates and pre/postnatal Pilates qualifications. I truly believe Pilates is for everybody regardless of age, athletic ability or flexibility. Knowing the benefits of Pilates first hand (especially postnatally) I am passionate about helping others discover what Pilates can do for them.

I am also a qualified ballet teacher and have taught ballet and Pilates in many of London’s top studios and schools until having my baby boy in 2019 when I relocated to Surrey. I enjoy attending regular courses and classes to keep my knowledge and repertoire up to date and varied.

I have worked within the fitness industry since 1995.  Over the years I realised that exercising clients was the easy bit really, but to get more from our bodies it was important to educate my clients to move body, mind and breath together.  This brought me into the world of Pilates in 2002.  In 2016 I became a Yoga Instructor and followed this up with restorative yoga and meditation.  This is a wonderful blend to add to pilates classes to help during stressful times that we all encounter.

Having had injuries during my career, and also having osteopenia and arthritis, this allows me to understand the body better and work with movements to manage, adapt and modify exercises to help you get the most from your own practice.

Last year I qualified as an Exercise Instructor to support cancer, so all combined together it is my absolute passion to help others get the body moving with ease, to feel relaxed  and calm as often as we can.

I really look forward to working with you.

I am also a Buff Bones qualified instructor and bone and joint specialist.I draw on my own experience to provide personalised adjustments and teach using the Pilates Method, with a focus on breath, control and understanding the purpose behind each movement.

I love helping people discover how movement can improve everyday life and feel more confident and empowered in their bodies.

I qualified as a Level 3 Mat Pilates Instructor with HFE in 2025 and have since been teaching weekly mixed-ability mat classes ever since. I'm also currently working towards my Level 3 Pre & Postnatal Pilates qualification with HFE, allowing me to support even more people through every stage of life.

I'm passionate about helping people move well, build strength and confidence, and enjoy exercise in a welcoming, supportive environment. My classes are fun, uplifting, and suitable for all abilities, with a focus on leaving you feeling stronger, happier, and part of a wonderful local community.

Since then, I've specialised in Pilates and in 2025, I achieved a Biomechanics diploma, deepening my understanding of how the body works as an intrinsically integrated system. This enables me to look beyond what I see, to identify muscle adaptations that may have developed through injury or lifestyle, and help to improve movement patterns to create lasting change.

While I'm passionate about my work I also believe exercise should be enjoyable. My classes are informative and I encourage understanding of technique and how to best apply it you own body. I always invite you to be yourself, because when movement is both understood and you are at ease, it becomes something you look forward to, making progress more readily achievable.

In October 2025, I qualified and received my certification to instruct mat Pilates to Intermediate level.

It was the turning point at which I decided to take a leap of faith by waving goodbye to a stable job in London and prioritising the plans that had been sitting patiently in the corner.

As a former dancer who trained for years in contemporary, jazz, modern and RAD ballet before becoming a lifestyle journalist, I've long held an appreciation for movement, health and fitness.

It was this appreciation that sparked an idea, which turned into hours of preparation, which then became the prospect of forging a new path in Pilates instruction.
