"Have to say, Pilates is a making a huge difference to the way my body is feeling right now, literally don't know what I'd do without it, thank-you."
"I've enjoyed a combo of your Tuesday class and a couple of 45 min recorded classes this week. My hip/outer thigh is the most comfortable it's been in a while!"
"Thank-you Claire. Another brilliant session - I'm still adapting but getting there! I'm so glad you do the different levels."
"It doesn't seem possible that 50 Zoom classes have been completed, I have, (thanks to you) enjoyed every one. You have done an exceptional job organising it all and making it easy for technophobes like me to join in."
"Just wanted to thank you so much for tonight's class. It was just what I needed. After your classes I feel like a superwoman, as though I'm strong and in control. So thank-you for that."
"I would like to say how much I am enjoying the Pilates library. I try to do a workout most mornings and I find the variation in the videos brilliant. I very much like that you do the exercises for a variety of levels."
Pilates was created in the 1920s by a trainer called Joseph Pilates. His initial trainees were soldiers returning from war and dancers. There was a strong focus on rehabilitation. Over the years, Pilates has developed and now includes both the classical exercises created by Joseph Pilates himself, and other exercises which evolved from these roots.
The benefits of Pilates include: endurance; flexibility; balance and co-ordination; reduced stress; improved posture; stronger core; increased spinal fitness; and injury rehabilitation.
Barre classes are a blend of ballet, strength and flexibility training. It is fairly cardio-vascular and your heart rate will increase but there is no jumping (unless you choose to) nor impact on joints. Set to music, using a ballet barre, window ledge or chair, you will also need your mat for abdominal exercises. Light hand weights may be introduced as you progress. A fun and challenging workout!
